Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am trying to count a qualitative value only if the same row as the correct number value. Please see below. What I am trying to do is count the number of "Complete" values there are in column A, but only if the adjacent value in column B is 1. So, from looking at this, there are rows 2 and 4 fit this criteria, therefore, my summed value should be "2".

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
=COUNTIFS(A:A, "complete", B:B, 1 )
assuming the 1 is a number and NOT text
OR
SUMIF()
=SUMIF( A:A, "Complete", B:B)
again assuming the B column 1 is a number and NOT text
