Thank you in advance for all help.

I have a list of new hires and some have the same and some have different hire date. I am wanting to build a summary page with a countif formula to auto count the number of each new hire for each different date.

1st Column is the Hire Date, 2nd Column is the # of New Hires per date.

What countif formula would be best to use to auto count this from the range tab?

And secondly, in the 1st column, is there a formula that will automatically put the different dates going down the column, from oldest date to newest date?

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Let's do this in reverse order.

For the Hire Date, you will want to use =UNIQUE([the Hire Date column from your raw data]). This will automatically update to provide the Dates that have been used within the Raw Data.

Then for your # of New Hires per Date would simply be =COUNTIF([the Hire Date column from your raw data],[the Unique Hire Date])
