I am trying to use a countif statement on a row, but not include a few cells that are in a row. I was trying to do something like this: COUNTIF(A1:D1,G1:J1,"x") I want it to search A1 through D1 and G1 through J1 and return the number of cells containg an 'x', but the commas seperating thr 2 ranges in the formula throw off the COUNTIF formula. Any idea how to search multiple ranges?

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Maybe
Code:
=COUNTIF(A1:D1."x")+COUNTIF(G1:J1,"x")

lenze
