I need to count the number of "Mondays" in a range of dates that is custom formatted to include the day of the week. The range of dates is in B3:B46. The criteria is in D2 (text form). I have tried countifs, countifs with match, countifs with text

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.

Maybe this...

If D2 = the long weekday name like Monday:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT(B3:B46,"dddd")=D2))

If D2 = the short weekday name like Mon:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT(B3:B46,"ddd")=D2))
