Hi all...

Just tried putting the formula in to count blank cells 'COUNTA', but the cells have drop downs in, which are set to blank, and also have conditional formatting in to shade if blank, and the sum of the count comes to 0, when it should be 26, where am I going wrong?

Snowmonster

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.

Try this...

=COUNTBLANK(A1:A26)

Adjust the range to suit

That will count both empty cells and cells the contain formula blanks "".

Hi...

I tried something...

If you right click, and select 'Clear Contents' then it counts it, so it must be something to do with the actions of the drop down box...

That means there's some kind of "invisible" entry in the cells like maybe a space character.

What result do you get with this formula:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(LEN(A1:A26)=0))

Hi...

Sorry, nope, that didn't work either...

Snowmonster...
We're using that formula to troubleshoot the problem.

The result you get will let us know if a certain condition exists. If you don't tell us the actual result of the formula then we don't know if it worked or not.
