Counting column

I have this code for counting rows, and i want the same syntax for counting columns, but my brainfreeze is killing me. I want the count of columns in row 1.

Sigh I should stop working on Fridays....

lastRow = .Range("d" & rows.Count).End(xlUp).row

lastColumn = .Range("a1").End(xlLeft).Column

god save me I can't get the lastColumn code to work...I know I'm missing something easy.

Never fails, the second i psot I figure it out...sigh

.Cells(1, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
