I have a column (about 37 cells) and I have one of three things in the column, EXC, MET, DNM. I am wanting to total the number of each in a separate cell below the column. I have a cell set up for each, and I just need the total of each to find its way in that cell, so I can use that number for a different part of my spreadsheet.
Thank you for the help!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
If A1:A37 is your original column
and B1:B3 is your range setup for each of the 3 items...

In C1: =COUNTIF($A$1:$A$37,$B1)
Fill down to C3

Hope that helps.
