In Excel 2002 Formulas, an array formula is suggested (pg. 190):

=SUM(IF((test1="Med")*(test2="Yes"),1))

In my case, test1 and test2 are parallel columns of data.

But this doesn't seem to work.??

-doug.

Fixed it!!!
didn't enter the array formula with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.

Try:

=SUMPRODUCT((test1="Med")*(test2="Yes"))

If test1 and test2 are not range names, replace them with the real/definite ranges in the formula. Note that this gives you a count of co-occurrences of "Med" and "Yes".
