Greetings!

Currently I recieved a file that contains a field for the date however it looks like this; 101106 or 50206. I want to beable to sort this worksheet by dates and off course they are not in a date format. If I select the column and format it for date it takes this number and correlates it to the specific day that this number correspondants to, not the actual date. Is there any way to format these dates to read 10-11-06 (101106), 05-02-06 (50206)? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance for you help.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
I don't think that'll work if you have dates from different years because custom formatting won't change the underlying value of the cell.

To convert to dates

Select column of dates

Data > Text to columns > at step 3 select Date format and MDY
