I need to create a chart that runs vertically rather than horizontally...I can do this using the "Bars" option...
Here is where i get stuck. The chart is plotting data points of product measurements. I need to put a spec limit line on the chart..it also needs to run vertically..I can't seem to get that part to work..
Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
On the chart, click on the data series (right-click) to select a differenty chart type. Select the LINE chart...and that particular data series will convert to a line graph.

I tried that...it put the line horizontal....

Not only did it create a horizontal line..it put it on a new axis...

You want a chart that has values that run vertical? On the bar chart, the values run horizontal. I'll remain unclear on that point..lol...but if you can't get the data series to jibe the way you want on the primary axis...switch it to the secondary axis. Ummmmm...not sure what you mean by running a line vertically (south to north)...instead of horizontally (west to east).

OK..using a bar chart the values run horizontal along a vertical axis...what I need is to add a vertical line that will show when the values exceed a specified limit...It is basically a "Line-Column' that is turned on its' side.

Any ideas?

Steve=True - Your statement "since this can only be done with a combo chart this will not work with a Bar Chart (bars moving left to right) because a Bar Chart cannot be part of a Combo chart" is the crux of my problem..that is what brought me here...hoping someone has some neat trick to overcome the Excel shortcoming! ;)

In order for my chart to be meaningful it needs to be a "Combo" chart - Line and Bars...

I see how he says to do it...but, for me, that creates a secondary axis with my line running horizontal....confused, I am...
