data categorization formula

I have recently categorized a large amount of companies into industry sectors manually. I have a similar dataset now, and cannot think how to automatically categorize the new dataset.

I need a formula to search the new dataset and where a company is found that also exists in the old data, assign the same sector.

I think if you use the vlookup function, it will do what you need. Here is a link on how to use vlookup
