Data entry using Google Sheets

Hello all, is it possible to enter data say from row 2 when using Google Sheets? Its a bit of a pain scrolling down to the next empty row. If so could the action required be explained to me please. I am trying to migrate some spreadsheets over to sheets but some of the formula functions are are not recognised and it so time consuming for a novice like me.

Have you tried ctrl and down arrow?
