Hello, I am looking to kinda revamp one of our Excel files for keeping track of vacation changes for warehouse employees. Here is a simple layout of what the form looks like:

Data is entered in Cells A2(Vacation Week they are Changing From) and A3(Vacation Week they are Changing To). I'd like be able to have both of these cells have a drop-down list where they can select one of the three options in column K OR also allow entry of a Sunday date in either A2 or A3. Is there some way to be able to have both of these? Maybe something other than data validation? I kinda prefer that drop-down though if possible as it keeps entries consistent by having the set choices.

It's weird because I can get this to work on a blank sheet but not my actual file. I'm not sure why that would be the case. Any thoughts?

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Edit: Nevermind. I must have done something wrong - I'm not sure what but when I tried again, it IS now working, so we're good.

Glad you solved whatever the issue was. :)

I'll leave the entries in column K but just change the font color to white to turn them invisible.
Two other options would be:
  1. Hide the whole of column K. Probably easier this way if you wanted to add to/delete from/edit the list
  2. Put the column K list on another worksheet where it would not be seen.

the ramifications of having the selections typed in the Source
You could manage that with the vba that you are going to have in the worksheet anyway, but I would be tending to use one of the options in my first point above, or what you have done already.
