help needed,
i dont know if this is possible without code, but i have a cell with data validation list, is it possible to open an input box if a selection is made and the user types in an answer, and that is then entered into the cell

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
vba's not my thing, but the answer is 'yes'. give us more details of what you've got and exactly what you'd like to happen

Thanks Paddy

In cell A1 i have a data validation box that has "tools" "Spares" "Fuel" and "Other" as a list
what i want to do is when A1 is selected the data box appears, if "other" is selected, another input type box appears and if i type say "meals" for example, that will transfer to cell A1 when the box is closed.
i know how to get the main box to appear, using data validation, but cant seem to figure out how to open a second box.
