In Excel 2007, is it possible to have a list in another sheet to where you set up a Data Validation drop-down box? It appears the list must be in the same sheet for it to use.

Thanks.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK

Give the source a named range then use the named range as the source.

For example, if the drop down is on Sheet1 and the source for the drop down is on Sheet2 in the range A1:A10 give the range Sheet2 A1:A10 a defined name like MyList. Then, as the source for the drop down use =MyList.

Thanks Biff. I had tried that but didn't have the "=" sign in front, so just left my range name as the option in the drop-down.
