Data Validation or Combo Box

I currently use Data Validation to ensure users of our spreadsheet use the correct codes from a 4000 cell list. The problem is if they get the code wrong they cannot use the drop box to find the correct code easy. When using a combo-box when you start typing in a code it narrows the list down so you can then easily select the correct code. Which is what i want. The problem being is that it is more difficult to Tab in and out of the Combo Box and it does not easliy "clear the contents". Any advise might help me decide. Plus i ran into a problem with a combo box recently that scared me. I had a value in the box that i changed to another value. Then later on i used the "Print Preview" button and the value in the Combo box reverted back to the original value. I am using Excel 2003.

Combo Box issue Combo Box

Can anybody comment regarding this issue and how to prevent. From a previous Post.

I ran into a problem with a combo box recently that scared me. I had a value in the box that I changed to another value. Then later on I used the "Print Preview" button and the value in the Combo box reverted back to the original value. I am using Excel 2003. How can i prevent this.
