Hi all,

I have a spreadsheet that uses data validation to give a drop down list.

What I need is to have some sort of formatting that indicates the cells that have the drop down menu at all times, even if the cell is not selected.

Is this possible

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Go to define name function, and define all the values that you need to display as a drop down

Add a combobox from developer tab. attach the defined name, in combo box properties under "Row source"

Your cell with combobox will diplay permanent drop down arrow indicating this is a cell with dropdown.

if you are using excel 2003.

Go to view -> toolbars-> control toolbar
choose combox, drag it to the cell you it to be
right click on the box, go to "format control" under "control" tab you will have to give link of the cells where your values are located.

Same steps in excel 2007 only change combo box is located under developer tab
