Data Validation / Web Query

Hi, all! Old time reader, first time poster.

I'm setting up a very basic financial document. Users will input various symbols/cusips down a column, and I'd like Data Validation to kick out the bad ones.

Example: MSFT is good, so it will allow it. POOP (sadly) is not a symbol, so it should error out.

I always thought that a feed through Bloomberg or Reuters was required, but I've heard that it's possible through google finance.

I hope I was detailed and clear enough.

Thanks in advance!
