I have a column of numbers. As an example in A1:A4 I have all the same data i.e 1,1,1,1.

In A5:A9 I want to validate those cells to not accept 1's in this case or of any data in A1:A4. Although in most cases it will be dulicate values in A1:A4.

I'm having a brain freeze during lunch hour!

TIA

Try the following Custom validation in A5, then copy down to A6:A9...
=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$4,A5)=0
