Okay here we go. I have two columns. Let's call them A and B. In column A I have the date that someone was issued something. In column B I have the date that there inspection of issued something is due.

I want column B date to change fill color to Red automtically when that suspense date is busted which is always 6 months after the date of issue.

Also, it may be nice to have it change to color fill yellow when the date is lets say within a week of being busted.

I don't even know where to begin with this. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
Use conditional formatting, found on the home tab of the ribbon. Use the Highlight Cell Rules function and select "A date occuring". Then put in select your criteria.

Awesome, thank you!

That takes care of a busted suspense, now is there any way to have it highlighted yellow a week before the date will be busted?

=$A1 - TODAY() < 183

Throw that in as a new rule under "more rules". Select use formula and you can play around with the values to get what your looking for.

Okay, it's not changing. Once I go into "more rules .. . " and change the format color to yellow, for this part what do I put:

Edit the Rules Description:
Format only cells with:
Cell Value(leave this alone?) greater than (leave this alone) =$A1 - TODAY() < 183(paste this in?)

Nevermind I got it. I set another rule and set it to turn yellow 7 days prior. Thanks so much for your help. I will have the best spreadsheets ever.
