Please see following portion of an export in Column A that is supposed to be in Date format. If you right click on the cell and choose format it says it is in Date format mm/dd/yyyy but if you do text to columns it appears that it is General format. I need it to look like July - 2011 and am really frustrated because I have tried everything I know and then some. Your guruship is most appreciated!

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
It looks like you will need to do a Text To Columns, choosing the asterisk ("*") as your delimiter and choosing the "Date" option (and the MDY format) for the format of your date field.

Then, just change the format of the column to a Custom Format of
"mmmm-yyyy" to get it to appear like "July-2011".
