Date - Date = Days open

Title says it all really,
I'd like to look at a past date then another date that's more recent then come up with a calculation that tells me the amount of days the action was left open.


So
Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
opened date - closed date = days left open before item closed

Any suggestions please?
