I selected a column and formatted it so that the date displays ex. 3/10/09. When I insert rows and type in the date it displays as 3/10/2009. Why does the format change? How can I get it so I don't have to format the dates individually.

Thanks.

when you insert rows its a new row so the format is new, if you need to insert a new row copy one of the rows that black but has your format on it then insert the copyed row in to your worksheet. or you can record a macro to copy a row then just insert it were you need it. like this

Code:
Sub Macro1()
Dim selectedRange As Range
    Rows("17:17").Select
    Selection.Copy

End Sub

or you can record a macro to select the column and reformat it each time you insert a new row

Code:
Sub Macro2()
    Columns("G:G").Select
    Selection.NumberFormat = "m/d/yy"
End Sub
