date format conversion

Hello,

I have a cell with date in mm-dd-yyyy format.
I want to change this to dd-mm-yyyy format. I tried changing it using Format cells- Custom -dd-mm-yyyy but it did change.

for exmaple cell A1 has 02-15-2010. I want this as 15-02-2010.

try going into the cell format. and changing to the date category instead of custom.
depending on your current locale selection you may need to change it to give you the option of dd/mm/yyyy (English(Australia) would do the trick).

Run Data|Text to Columns. At the 3rd step, choose MDY as Date format.
