Date format

I have a button which when clicked emails a sheet to the desired addresses as an attachment. If the email is viewed in google or opened as a google spreadsheet then the date remains in the correct format.

However when the attachment is downloaded to excel the format changes from dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy

Any idea why this might be?

If you are sending this attachment to someon who is using US version of Excel it will show date in this format.

I'm not.

Even if I send it to myself and then download the file it changes the date format.
