Hi

I have cells A7 to A37 and cells B7 to B37 which I would like to only have dates put in those cells in the format dd/mm/yyyy, everything else I would like to be restricted.

I have formatted those cells but this has not restricted any date formatting etc.

Can this be done via custom data validation?

Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Yes, you can do this with Data Validation, there is an option to allow only DATE input.

Then format the cell as dd/mm/yyyy.

Hello

But when I select data validation then date, it doesn't have an option to select the type of formatting, it only has option of which dates can go in those cells, i.e. the options given are: between, not between, equal, equal to... etc, but nothing to say only input a date

It's two separate things.

Use Data Validation to force input of a date. This won't determine the format of the date.

THEN, use CELL FORMATING to set the date format to DD/MM/YYYY or whatever you want.
