date formula?

I have this in a column A2

I wantt to get this from A2 in another column(A3)

which formula to get that

When i try to do this

=left(a2,2).. i am getting "40".. i think it is serial number.. i am not getting 08

date format is not the solution as the number will still be original one.. only formating is changing.. any help?

=TEXT(A2,"dd-mmm")

Assuming the entry is a true Excel date/time...

Try this...

=INT(A2)

Format as Date
