Date function dilema

Trying to convert a text field from MMM/DD/YYYY to date filed where I can extract month and year for pivot. I have seen some other solutions but cant seem to get it to work.

You can convert that to a real date using something like this...

=1*REPLACE(REPLACE(A5,4,1," "),7,1,", ")

which you can then format as needed; or you can use the part after the equal sign directly in your own formula where a real date value would go.
