dear all

i need a date to apprear every time the end of last month. like now it is august i want it to appear July, if it is sep it want it to appear august.


please note that there is no date data on the sheet.


appreciate any help

Peter's formula uses the EOMONTH function which is part of the Analysis ToolPak, which is an Add-In that requires the user to activate it in XL2003 (and earlier versions if it is actually available for earlier versions). On the off chance that you might be distributing your workbook to individuals using XL2003 who, for whatever reason, did not want to activate the Analysis ToolPak add-in, then here is a formula that will work using standard Excel functions...

=TEXT(TODAY()-DAY(TODAY()),"mmmm")
