Dates & Vertical Axis

Hello I have dates running up a vertical Axis in a graph. Example below:

24/08/12
17/06/12
12/05/12
07/04/12
06/03/12

I would like the vertical axis to display it in a more constant way. Example below:

01/08/12
01/07/12
01/06/12
01/05/12
01/04/12
01/03/12

I can't seem to do this in the "format Axis, Axis options tab". I can set the miminum unit to 01/03/12 and this appears to work. But I cant get the minor units to bet set to monthy.

Any ideas?

If you use a Line Chart and put the dates on the x axis, you can choose a base unit of Month(s).

Many thanks for your help but I can't seem to get it to work. I have 3 series (all dates).

Just to conclude I will show you how I would like the graph to look like:

01/09/11
01/08/11
01/07/11
01/06/11

............plot 1. plot 2. plot 3. plot 4. plot 5

I don't mind which way round it does it (ie plots running up the vertical axis) - But I can't seem to get either to work?

Sheet 1 is where the graphs are & the sheet "CRC checklist" is where the data is stored.

The 1st grapg is my perferred one but with the dates running up the vertical axis in 1 month intervas.

It's only possible when the dates are on the x axis, as a time-series. It's not possible on the y (category) axis.
