I have an input of a date and time in the format:
2024-01-22 16:38:07 +1030

How can I get this to a DateSerial value? I have tried, without success,
VBA Code:
ReportTime = DateSerial(Left(ActiveCell, 19))

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
VBA Code:
ReportTime = DateSerial(Left(ActiveCell, 4), Mid(ActiveCell, 6, 2), Mid(ActiveCell, 9, 2))

Your formula indicates you want the date and time.
For that you should only need:
VBA Code:
    ReportTime = CDate(Left(ActiveCell, 19))

I am not familiar with the format +1030, so I don't know if you need to factor that in or not for your purposes.

If you only want the date either reduce the 19 to 10 or
VBA Code:
    Dim ReportTime As Date
    ReportTime = Int(CDate(Left(ActiveCell, 19)))

Solution
Thanks guys. The +1030 is the time zone (Adelaide, South Australia)

The combined date and time is what I was after. Cheers.
