Day of Highest Temperature of January

i have some prob with this. i want to find the day of the highest temperature of the month. i used a lookup function and it faileddddddd.

why man!
 

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
forgot to say that it is something like
Days the temperature is generated using random
1

3
4
etc

With days in column A and temperatures in column B try

=INDEX(A1:A31,MATCH(MAX(B1:B31),B1:B31,0))

okay thanks alot. u solved my problem is a super short time. i wasted alot of time thinking man.

but why cant i use a lookup instead?

VLOOKUP can only look to the right. You would need to reverse the columns to use it.
