I have a simple quesion.
Whenever we open a new excel workbook, it contains 3 default sheet.
Why is it so?

Is there any logic behind this?

Please explain.

Thanks,
Ramanan

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
It is a setting on the Options menu that you can change. The default setting is three sheets.

Excel 2003:
  • Select from the menu Tools\ Options.
  • Select the General tab on the Options dialog
  • Change the setting; Sheets in new workbook.

Thank you Alpha,
i understand the settings for the worksheets.

But the Clarificaion is why all the workbook has three sheets as default. Is there anything sentiment for Microsoft.

It has to default to something. Maybe it's just that the programmer who set the default simply thought Four is too many and Two is not enough. It may have to do with competing against Lotus 1-2-3 or whatever product 1st had tabbed sheets and everyone else copied them. The 3 sheets then became the de facto standard. I really don't know.
