Ok, I'm playing with the idea of interactive charts. I say playing cause I don't have the foggiest idea what the he!! I'm doing. :(

I've downloaded an example of a (what I think) nifty interactive chart that does not use macros, but rather Defined Names and Sheet controls.

After stomping around in the workbook for a few hours I've learned very little. There are no explanations in the workbook, just one hint. I've kind of a slim grasp on how defined Names are working. But what I can't figure out is how you use one defined name to reference another with out saying = "defined Name".

Then, how do you make a cell a list box or a combo box with out actually using list or combo?

The example sheet I downloaded is here

If someone could direct me to some sort of location that would help me understand some of this stuff I've appreciate it.

Thanks.

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
thanks nice site.

Also discovered one of the things I was not figuring out was the cells in question were using validation.

Never would have thought to look at that as a possible solution.
