Why is it so difficult to delete defined names. It seems as though the code below should work perfectly, but it does not. Any input?

Code:
    For i = 1 To 1000
        ActiveWorkbook.Names("ExternalData_" & i).Delete
    Next i

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
How about this?
Code:
Sub KillNames()
Dim x As Name
For Each x In Names
x.Delete
Next x
End Sub
