I would like to delete a workbook but am concerned that it has dependancies i.e. other workbooks linked to it. Is there a way to check for this?

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Code:
Sub ConnectionsTest()
    MsgBox "Book " & IIf(ThisWorkbook.Connections.Count > 0, "has", "does not have") & " connections"
End Sub

Hi Sektor,

Thanks for the reply. I have pasted this into VBA and tried to run the macro. I am getting a complie error method or data member not found on the ".connections" part. Any suggestions?

This code works for me. What module did you insert it in?

Sorry Sektor, not an expert on VBA. I put it in "Thisworkbook". Did I need to set-up a new module?

Ah, yes. Connections property was added in Excel 2007. Sorry. :(

Maybe this in a regular module (not ThisWorkbook):

Code:
Sub ConnectionsTest()
Dim aLinks As Variant
aLinks = ActiveWorkbook.LinkSources(xlExcelLinks)
If Not IsEmpty(aLinks) Then
    MsgBox "File contains links"
Else
    MsgBox "File doesn't contain links"
End If
End Sub
