I had a spreadsheet that had a lot of data in it and was saved. Then I added a ton more data and thought I had saved those changes. So when I exited the file I said no to saving changes again. The last thing I did with the file before exiting was sorting the data so I was assuming that was what it wanted to save.

I know, I know... stupid mistake.

Is there anyway to get the unsaved version of the file? Like a cached version of it somewhere? I haven't done anything else with the program or done a shutdown on my computer since this just happened an hour ago or so.

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
in Excel 2010 look under File-->Excel Options-->Save-->AutoRecover (Excel 2007 it's the Office button). If you had AutoRecover turned on you may be able to recover a saved version.

Outside of that you're probably SOL.

Looks like I was setup for it to be caching those temp files. I'm pretty new to Win7 and am not sure how to see hidden folders to find that file....

I figured out how to unhide the folders. The excel options says that it is saving an autorecover file every 10 minutes and says that the file location is:

C:\Users\Cheryl\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\

But when I go to that folder there is nothing in it except for a folder called xlstart that is empty.

I selected the radial button that says Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Oh... and I'm using Excel 2007.
