difference between form controll, activeX controll, and shape

Hi,
I have a couple of general excel questions.

1) I read that one should avoid using ActiveX controls in a worksheet. Is this true and why? I've found them to be easier to manipulate and more versatile.

2) Are there any benefits of assigning a macro to a form controll as opposed to a shape? What advantages, if any, does a form controll have?

1. ActiveX controls are more versatile but they are also known to be more prone to weird behaviour (such as random resizing) when used on worksheets.
2. Form controls look different from shapes give more visual feedback of having been clicked.
