Different Dates, Same Numeric Value

I tried to do a vlookup to move dates from one spreadsheet to another by part number. When I did this, the date being pulled did not match the original date (it was 1 day and 4 years later).

So I tried to convert them to numeric values and copy and paste them over the traditional way (I just sorted them into the same order) and the same problem occurred.

So finally, I compared the numeric values. When I convert the exact same numeric value on each spreadsheet to a date format, they come up with two different date frames (again being 1 day and 4 days between them).

Example: 35244 is entered on each spreadsheet. When I format that to date, one thinks it is 6/28/1996 and the other thinks it is 6/29/2000.

Has anyone had this problem before and how to go about fixing it?

Thanks for your help.

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Maybe one is using the 1900 date system and the other the 1904 date system. The numeric difference would be 1462.

Depending on your version of Excel, the date system can be changed in Tools > Options.

Once you change, you might need to adjust the values by adding or subtracting 1462.
