Displaying Relationships

As a list of table relationships becomes more complicated, I feel the need to have several relationship views. for example, I may wish to construct a view of the relationships associated with tbl_one only. In a separate view I would like to see the relationships associated with tbl_two, excluding those of tbl_one and all others.

Question: Is there a method to create a relationship display and save that display?

If so, each display could be called up for viewing without having to re-create it each time.

Using a mouse in Excel is the work equivalent of wearing a lanyard when you first get to college
I thought once in a past life I had created an access report that had all the table relationships in it. I can't find that feature now (Documenter creates a report but it doesn't seem like it can be saved).

I found a link on Allen Browne pages that you might like to consider trying:

I do this kind of thing in Visio, when I want a better visual.

I would also recommend that you create documentation for the database outside of Access.

You can use Word, Excel or Powerpiont. I like to use Visio. Even something like Paint or Paint.net will work for drawing your relationships.

That's always a good point. Take some effort to tell people how to use your product.
Now to figure out how to create Access projects. Thanks for your time.

I am starting to really think that the the first step to software development really should be to write the manual. No coding should be done until the manual is completed. The manual will be used as the guide for writing the application. Most software would be a lot better designed if this was done.

I have been teaching programming and answering questions on support forms for many years. I really do learned a lot by teaching and explaining things to others. It is rare that I do not learn something when teaching.

This is also why I encourage anyone to jump in and starting tryng to answer post. It is amazing how mush you will learn.

I believe the same thing would happen with software design if the manual was written before any coding was started. I am doing t6his with some new applications I am creating. just to see if it really does help.

Re: write manual first

There is no doubt that that will help in creating better software. You know better what you want. That's the design phase which is so often skipped.
And yes, its amazing what you learn when teaching.
But this is drifting off topic.
