Dividing by another equation

Hi there - I'm sure this is fairly easy but I can't make it work and keep getting error messages, so would be most grateful for some guidance please.

This is what I'm trying:

=SUM(Y8/(R8:W8))

So the result would equal the number in cell Y8 being divided by the number created by adding together the numbers in fields R8 to W8

It just raises an error message.

Can anyone help?
