Hi

I am in the middle of creating a spreadsheet to record my bets. I use systems to find my bets and have over 100 systems.

I have two options:

1. Use one master page to record all my bets (this will be a large page)
2. Use a seperate sheet (over 100 seperate sheets)

Are there any pros/cons to my options regarding calculation speed and general workbook performence?

Both options would also have summary pages etc within the spreadsheet. Personally option 2 would be easier for me to use regarding creating my summary sheets etc but have no problem using option 1 (it will just take little more headwork )

Cheers

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Option 1 will be much easier in terms of producing reports/summaries in the long run I suspect since all the data is in one place.

Hmm - given each 'system' is unique I'm not sure of the benefits of combining all of the data onto one page - I can't imagine any performance gain/detriment would actually be discernible to a human, so the decision should probably be based on some other criteria.

Using a single page will make data entry and handling awkward, especially if a bet in one system is conditional on the previous bet(s) and the 'float' to hand, or if each system is stand-alone. But as Rory mentioned, trying to recombine the data for an overall analysis will be a little more tricky. However, given you already have a summary section for each system then collating and comparing each system on a single page would be relatively easy and probably beneficial (e.g. which system is more profitable?). This is assuming each 'system' is fundamentally unique and not a simple variation on another system.

Just my opinion :)
