Does Macro stop DDE and Calculation

If one has a macro that triggers based on the change in the value of a cell that is fed by a DDE link with streaming data, will the streaming data stop coming in *and* will the spreadsheet stop its recalculation of all dependent formulas, resuming when the macro finishes? Or, is it the case that the data keeps streaming and the formulas keep recalculating while the macro itself is calculating?
