Hello,

In Cell AR2

I want the person to put only the letter "W", this I achieved through data validation

However I also want that the person cannot put anything if there is any value in cell AG2

Can anyone please help me in this, thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
What are you doing now to allow only "W"?

Try this as a custom validation rule:

Excel Formula:
=AND(AR2="W",AG2="")

What are you doing now to allow only "W"?

Try this as a custom validation rule:

Excel Formula:
=AND(AR2="W",AG2="")
Not Working

I unticked ignore blank

When AG2 is blank it works ie, it restricts the user to put only "w" in AR2
However when there is any number in AG2, it does not allow the user to put anything in AR2

I also tried the following:
=if(ag2="","","W")

=IF(AG2="","",AR2="w")

THIS FORMULA WORKS, unclick ignore blank

thanks for teaching me that I can put formulas in data validation
