Cell A10 contains a drop-down box with 2 choices.

Cell A14 should contain 12 choices if A10 contains A, and cell A14 should contain a different set of 12 choices if A10 contains B.

Is this possible to do?

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Hi

Create two name ranges eg: rngA and rngB for the two different set of 12 choices.

Then go to Data Validation and in the source field, place the following formula

=IF(A10="Yes",rngA,rngB)

In my example the test is either Yes - No in the first drop down to populate the relative name range

Hope it helps

to add a continuation to this question- what if A10 contains a drop down box with 5 choices, and whatever is chosen from those 5 determines the set of choices in cell A14.

is it possible to build on the equation

=IF(A10="Yes",rngA,rngB)

in data validation? I can 'say' what I'm looking for - but don't know how to turn it into an equation :)

"If I chose 'A' then I get list A; If I chose 'B', then I get list B; If I chose 'C', then I get list C; If I chose 'D', then I get list D; if I chose 'E', then I get list E" ... translate please :)
