Drop-down lists

I have a sheet where I'm incorporating some drop-down lists but I'd also like the ability to overwrite that cell with whatever the user wants if the specific item isn't in there... I suppose it kind of defeats the purpose of the drop-down but I'm curious if there's a way to do that.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Right but when I try to type into a cell instead of using the drop down list, I get an error that says:
The value you entered is not valid.
A user has restricted values that can be entered into this cell.

hermunn123,

In Data Validation dialog, Error Alert tab, uncheck Show error alert after invalid data is entered option.
