Drop List from different sheet

Hi

How do you create a drop down box based on a list which is on another sheet? I have tried:-

='list'!a1:a10

but I get the messege that a list cannot be on a different sheet. The list needs to be accesed by other pages in the workbook and can grow in size ie, 9 items at present but could become 20.

I have solved my previous question about protection.

Just name the range, then refer to the name -- works a treat
