how do make the dtpicker change the date format from 3/8/2009 to 03/08/2009? I know the custom format changes this format, just don't know how to make it show mm/dd/yyyy.

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
You nailed the answer in your question.

Custom number format mm/dd/yyyy

Ctrl-1 to open the format box
Select Number
Custom
Type: mm/dd/yyyy

That's the correct number format, so there must be an error in the data. Now that the number format is already applied to the cell, try typing a date in again. If it displays correctly then, your current values are inaccurate and will need correcting.

One way to correct data values is to highlight them all, then select DATA > TEXT TO COLUMNS > DELIMITED > NEXT > NEXT > Column Data Format: Date MDY > Finish

Then check them again.
