I am trying to remove duplicate names from a spread sheet, and if you could help that would be great. I am pulling information form a data base and it has a person's name beside every entry for them. I am placing them in a spread sheet in alpha order so I only need the first name to appear. Is there a way to do this simply so the next time I drop additional names into the spread sheet it removes them automatically?
Thanks for the assistance.

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
I don't know of an "automatic" method other than a macro assigned to a Command Button. Depending of Excel 2003 or later you could use the built in tools. 2010 has a Remove Duplicates tool. Data>DataTools>RemoveDuplicates. For 2003 you have to use the Advanced Filter feature and then use the unique values.

Thanks, I knew there was something I could do that was easier than what I was trying to do. I will let you know how it works.
