Hi,
Need some advice again if i can.
I need to email a work college an excel document which has text & photos in certain cells.
Next to each photo is a cell of which i have coloured red.
My question is can i somehow restrict him to only to be able to edit the red coloured cell ?
It is just like him to somehow delete the photo or text then save it before emailing it back to me.

Thanks very much

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
You should be able to lock the cells and protect the sheet. Just lock the cells you don't want edited.

Hi,

Highlight the cells you want your "friend" to be able to edit,

Press Contol & 1 >>Protection and untick the Locked tick box & OK

Excel 2007 -- Review tab from the ribbon >> Protect Sheet >> untick the "Select locked Cells" tickbox>> add password and OK.

Save sheet and send to your "friend" - they will be able to edit the red fill cells only:)

Cheers,
Ian

As easy as it may sound i did the below,

Highlight the cells you want your "friend" to be able to edit,

Excel 2007 -- Review tab from the ribbon >> Protect Sheet >> untick the "Select locked Cells" tickbox>> add password and OK.

Save sheet and send to your "friend" - they will be able to edit the red fill cells only

Ans still cant get it right ??

Thank you Crook 101

This thread has answered my question/ problem.

Excel 2011 worked 1st time.

Is it possible to lock only formulas and alow fill colour changes (format)?

My spread sheet has every row in different colours, which is heavy on ink when printed.
